Sunday, 5.7.2020, the Israeli Government adopted a new strategy for strengthening the relationship with World Jewry.
The strategy was submitted by Minister of Diaspora Affairs Omer Yankelevitch, in the spirit of the special public advisory committee that was set up 6 months ago
The committee was led by Maxine Fassberg former CEO of Intel Israel and VP of Global Intel and Professor Eugene Kandel, CEO of Start Up Nation and former Chair of the National Economic Council in the Prime Minister’s Office.
The committee was founded to examine government activity in the field of Diaspora Affairs and to plan channels of communication between Israel and World Jewry and to fit the Zionist vision to the modern world.
The committee decided that the state must present a plan that would include investment in education, and strengthening the Jewish identity and connection to Israel. This in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, Jewish Agency, National Institutions, and Philanthropy.
Minister of Diaspora Affairs Omer Yankelevitch (Blue and White):
“With the plan we move from tactical actions to a global Jewish strategy. The Government Decision is an acceptance of responsibility for the Jewish People, and mandated by the Israeli Declaration of Independence and the Nation State Law. The approved plan allows building a strategic, long-term plan that is not dependent on one government or another”.
