MK Bitan to the Aliyah Committee: there is a lack of manpower in Native for checking applicants eligibility for Aliyah

Wednesday morning, 8.7.2020, the Knesset’s Aliyah and Immigration Absorption Committee met to discuss the budget for Nativ, the organization that is responsible for checking the eligibility for Aliyah of Jews from the former Soviet Union.

Chair of the Committee David Bitan (Likud) said:

“In the coming years, we expect a wave of immigration, and so we must prepare the organizational infrastructure and budget. There is a dearth of consulates and embassies in former Soviet states, and the manpower of Nativ in checking applicants eligibility for Aliyah”.

MK Kushnir (Yisrael Beiteinu), who was formerly the alternate head of Nativ, warned:

“At this budget, the organization will not be able to function and people who are eligible for Aliyah will not be able to come”.
